The Cabinet Office has opened nominations for the Social Value Awards, which recognise and celebrate good practice in commissioning and providing social value.

The categories will be:

  • Social Value Leadership Award for an Organisation
  • Social Value Leadership Award for an Individual
  • Promoting and Mainstreaming Social Value Act Award
  • Driving Value for Money Award

Nominate people or organisations for the awards by completing the online form by 20 November 2015.

The winners will be announced at the Social Value Summit in February 2016.

The Cabinet Office has also announced almost £30,000 funding for 8 social value projects around the country. It will help public service commissioners to improve how they measure their social, economic and environmental impact as part of the Social Value Act. This measurement shows the added benefits to each local area.

Recipients include Social Value Portal, Social Enterprise UK and The Prince’s Trust.

This builds on Lord Young’s recommendations published in February 2015 on realising the full potential of the Social Value Act.

Minister for Civil Society, Rob Wilson, said:

The Social Value Act delivers value for money while strengthening communities. Its success depends on providers of public services around the country. I strongly encourage nominations to support those who have exemplified the Act and are helping us to build a more compassionate society.
